In the 21st century, animal experimentation is unacceptable. Animals are not effective test subjects, as they do not give back accurate results. Secondly, they are treated inhumanely and their moral rights are infringed upon, and lastly, there are several other alternatives that are not harmful, more accurate and less expensive. As our society makes technological progress, there will be even more alternatives that mimic cells more accurately. I am of the firm belief that eventually animal testing will be replaced by alternative methods and the lives of millions of innocent animals will be spared. The quote by Mahatma Gandhi, “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated” goes to show that if the US bans animal testing, it will not only show the technological progress, but also the moral progress in our society (Hajar 1).
